Enjoy Nature Try Camping in the Rough

Every summer thousands of us pack up our RVs or the trailer and head off to the campground. When you get there you back into your site and plug into electricity. To each their own, but in my opinion this seems to defeat the whole purpose.

If you are looking for the true experience of camping, and are looking for the true wonders of our world, i would suggest that you try camping in the rough. However it is a good idea to be familiar with the area you are camping in, this will help you avoid getting lost and always let somebody know where you are going and when you are returning.

It is enjoyable to go along a waterway where a canoe or kayak may be used. Extra supplies can be stored in the camper to make for a pretty good time. A few basic essentials is all you need for a weekend of relaxation and solitude. My suggestion would be a small pup tent, a tarp in case of rain, or on a mild summer night you can make due with only a sleeping bag.

I always take along my fishing pole in case I want to include trout for a meal. Make sure you have a frying pan and a pot to boil water. Lots of food brought from home can be easily prepared over a campfire. Camping this way may not be for everyone that’s for sure! Camping in the rough entails a person take only what is needed for a two- or three-day journey. Having a camera is about the only modern piece of equipment worth bringing.

If camping in the rough seems like an idealistic approach to enjoying nature, why not give it a try? There are no traffic jams or other motorists to be wary of, no noise. It just may be the first of many great camping trips for you.
